7 June 2019 weekly update

7 June 2019

This week, Matt summarises the quality of education in Kent schools as reflected in the most recent Ofsted inspection judgements.

Dear Colleagues

Ofsted Update: 92% of Kent Schools now Good or Outstanding

As we begin a new school term, I would like to summarise the position as of 1 June 2019 on the quality of education in Kent schools as reflected in the most recent Ofsted inspection judgements.

The latest Ofsted Inspection figures during this year show continued further improvements in the quality of education in Kent schools.

Overall 92.5% of schools in Kent are now rated good or outstanding compared to 85% nationally. This includes 21% of schools judged to be outstanding and 71.5% judged to be good.

This overall figures includes 94% of Primary Schools judged to be good or outstanding, 89% of Secondary schools, 91% of Special schools and 50% of PRUs in Kent. In addition, 98% of Early Years Settings are good or outstanding which is a solid position we have maintained.

In Kent now, 93% of pupils attend a good or outstanding school, including 94% of Primary pupils, 92% of Secondary pupils and 94% of pupils attending Special schools. This means that 207,203 pupils now attend a good or outstanding school in Kent.

I am pleased that the positive trajectory in the County has continued during this academic year.

Thank you for all your hard work in delivering School Improvement in Kent.
