31 January 2020 weekly update

31 January 2020

This week, Matt shares an invitation to the Spring Headteacher Briefings and outlines activities in Kent for ‘National Apprenticeship Week’.

Dear Colleagues

Headteacher Briefings - March 2020:

I would like to invite all Headteachers to my termly Headteacher Briefings which are now co-produced with KAH. The agenda will have input from HMI on the new School Inspection Framework, with a specific focus on Inclusive Practice, Outcomes, Progress and Attainment of Children and Young People; one of the key areas of weakness identified at the 2019 SEND Area Inspection. There will be additional input from Headteachers and KAH on Leadership of Inclusion and Peer Reviews working with representatives from the Schools Partnership Programme. I do hope you are able to join myself and KAH colleagues at these briefings:

  • Monday 16 March - 1pm to 4pm - Canterbury Cricket Ground
  • Wednesday 18 March - 1pm to 4pm - Ashford International Hotel
  • Monday 23 March - 1pm to 4pm - Village Hotel Maidstone
  • Wednesday 25 March - 1pm to 4pm - Mercure Dartford Brands Hatch

To reserve your place please email CYPESupportTeam@kent.gov.uk confirming your name, school and the session you are able to join.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at these briefings.

National Apprenticeship Week

This year’s National Apprenticeship Week runs from 3 to 7 February and sees KCC celebrating the many successes of colleagues involved in areas including health and social care, business administration and customer service across the county.

Apprenticeships are open to all new and current colleagues over the age of 16 and are a great way to learn new skills or enhance your existing ones.

Activities start on Monday 3 February, with two face-to-face workshops for our ‘Made in Kent’ development network. The workshops offer skills and development support for apprentices and places can be booked through Delta

We will engage with a range of school students over the week through different events being held across the county. On 5 February we are hosting an apprenticeship information event being held at Leigh UTC with local employers and training providers attending.

We are proud of the hard work and success of our apprentices and during the week anyone interested in developing their skills can find out more from the Learning and Development Team and some of our apprenticeship training providers, who will be available at Sessions House. To find out more, email EmmaLouise.Salter@kent.gov.uk.
