A message from Christine McInnes:

20 January 2023 weekly update

20 January 2023

This week, Christine shares information on the upcoming industrial action and Pathways for All, the Kent 16 to 19 review.

Dear Colleagues,

I hope the week has gone well. This week’s e-bulletin includes guidance on the forthcoming strike action which is available on Kelsi.

This week in KCC I have spent a lot of time in a range of strategic meetings including Children and Young People’s Cabinet Committee and the first meeting of the new SEND Assurance Board which is chaired by Deborah Glassbrook.

Dr Tony Breslin, the independent chair of the Kent 16 to 19 board Pathways for All, visited Kent settings this week. The Pathways for All report published last year was the outcome of a partnership with representation of stakeholders across the post 16 sector who informed the recommendations. The Pathways for All page has recently been updated and includes information about the board and links to request relevant practice. Under Tony’s leadership, a sub group has been established to lead on each recommendation and the ethos of strong partnership continues.

A big thank you to the following individuals and organisations that hosted Tony

  • Wilmington Grammar School for Boys, Charlie Guthrie, CEO of Endeavour MAT
  • Walk Tall, Dr Ann Duke, Chief Executive
  • Catch 22, Roma Ferreira, Regional Manager - South-East
  • Jonathan Shaw, Mid Kent College, Maidstone Campus
  • Jez Rowarth, Academy Principal, St Anselm’s Catholic School
  • Alexandra Syrotiuk, Deputy Principal, Ashford College
  • Graham Razey, Chief Executive EKC Group.

Best wishes
