11 January 2019 weekly update

11 January 2019

This week, Matt launches our formal consultation on the proposed school term dates for 2020-21 and 2021-22; and shares information on our staff consultation on proposed changes within the CYPE Directorate.

Dear Colleagues

Term Date Consultation

Now that the new year has begun it seems timely to look to the future and fulfil KCCs responsibility for setting term dates for community and voluntary controlled schools for 2020-2021 and 2021-2022.

In determining the proposed future school term dates, KCC is required to consult on the proposed dates and this consultation will begin on Monday 14 January 2019, lasting for 6 weeks and will conclude on Sunday 24 February 2019.

The proposed dates and consultation response form can be found here

I encourage all staff and representatives of Schools, Academies, Pupil Referral Units and Alternative Provision in Kent; and any parent, carers or organisations who would like to make comment on the proposals; to respond to the Consultation.

Change for Kent Children - Staff consultation

On Monday we launched a formal staff consultation on the proposed changes to service redesign, structure and staffing within the Children, Young People and Education Directorate (CYPE). The consultation outlines a range of proposed changes to tier three and four posts, but also makes proposals in relation to a select number of roles beneath those tiers.

The vision of the Change for Kent Children Programme is to better deliver services through integrated approaches to improve the outcomes and the life chances of the children and young people of Kent. This service redesign offers an exciting opportunity to integrate our services in a new way to improve outcomes for children in Kent.
