10 January 2020 weekly update

10 January 2020

This week, Matt introduces KCC's new 5-Year Plan Strategic Statement and formal consultation.

Dear Colleagues

Happy New Year.

Welcome back to the new school term after what I hope was a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas break. I hope you celebrated the start of 2020 in good spirits with family and friends.

Our 5-Year Plan - KCC’s New Strategic Statement

Our draft 5-year plan for 2020-2025 is now out for formal consultation and you have until 17 February to have your say. We're trying to set out what's important over the next few years and to do that as well as we can, we need to know what it is that really matters to people in Kent.

The draft plan is the result of all the insight and expertise you gave us during the design phase to help plan where we need to prioritise our energy and resources, so we make the biggest difference to the people of Kent.

It sets out what we want to achieve for our residents, communities and businesses. This shapes our delivery plans and your individual action plan, so please take the opportunity to have a look and give your feedback, even if you contributed at an earlier stage.

We have also been talking to residents, our Members, young people, businesses, the voluntary and community sectors and other partners to seek their views and all of these views have been considered to create the draft plan.

Following the end of the consultation we will update you on the engagement and consultation feedback and our response to this. A 'You Said, We Did' report will also be presented to our Corporate Management Team, our Cabinet and County Council in February and March 2020 as part of the approval process.

You can find the draft 5-year plan and supporting consultation documents on the KCC website
