Changes to SEN home to school transport

In 2015/16 Kent County Council ran a successful pilot with three schools to further improve the quality of transport for children with special educational needs and disabilities, so they arrive at school ready to learn. The pilot demonstrated that having a single transport operator does improve the service for children, parents and schools, so this is what we will be aiming to achieve wherever possible.

Please note that whilst this project will review the effectiveness of travel arrangements for pupils who are entitled to help, there will be no change in policy or a child's entitlement to transport.

We are now planning to introduce improvements to school to home transport to all remaining SEN schools by 2018.
