An introduction to a range of speech, language and communication difficulties children experience within the school environment.

Workshop objectives

Participants will gain an understanding of a range of speech, language and communication difficulties children face within the school environment and strategies and interventions to support them.

Workshop content

This one-day workshop will include

  • An introduction to a range of speech, language and communication difficulties children experience within the school environment; such as verbal dyspraxia and language delay/disorder
  • How difficulties are defined
  • How these difficulties present within the school environment
  • Challenges children with these difficulties encounter
  • Practical ways to support children with these difficulties. This will incorporate an aspect focussing on those in Secondary education.

Target Audience

Primary and Secondary teachers, TAs, SENCOs, SLT and other professionals working with children with speech and language difficulties.

Presented by Becky Kenny, Meadowfield STLS and Ruth Smith, Meadowfield SALT STLS.

Lunch and refreshments are included.
