Safety In Action - Dover

An interactive safety awareness event for Year 6 pupils to support their transition to Year 7.

We aim to provide an educational, fun learning experience for Year 6 students to discuss and learn about personal safety situations based upon realistic life situations, direct from agency and organisation staff. Children are divided into teams to rotate around the different safety scenarios, spending 10 minutes at each to learn about the specific safety messages. Teams are awarded points for their responses to the questions and at the end of the day these were aggregated, with cash prizes awarded to the top three schools.

Every pupil receives a booklet and a pencil, this is an educational aid which every student takes away with them, it contains information to support the pupils transition to Year 7 in the form of questions with the answers coming from what they learn at SIA or for them to find out. Teachers are able to use this as well as pupils to inform them on specific topics relating to Safety, covering the following areas:

  • Transition
  • School Attendance
  • In Good Company
  • Safety Online
  • Fire Safety
  • Home Safety
  • Road and Passenger Safety
  • Rail Safety
  • Electrical Safety
  • Water Safety
  • First Aid
  • Drugs and Alcohol
  • Ensuring the support and encouragement of the pupils personal and social development within their school, home and the local community.
