Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) Training (West and North Kent Schools)

A six day course that enables teaching assistants to become fully accredited as Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs).

This course is available to schools in West and North Kent:

  • Tonbridge and Malling
  • Maidstone
  • Tunbridge Wells
  • Dartford
  • Gravesham
  • Sevenoaks.

ELSAs will be able to plan and deliver emotional literacy programmes of support to children and young people in your school; usually lasting 6 to 12 weeks.

A programme might be designed to help a child or young person to:

  • recognise and manage their emotions
  • raise their self-esteem
  • improve peer relationships
  • recover from significant loss or bereavement
  • resolve conflict effectively.

ELSAs are trained and supervised by Educational Psychologists (EPs). The price of this course is in 2 instalments over 2 years which includes 6 group supervision sessions during the year following the course as well as a folder of resources. ELSAs need to be practising as an ELSA and attending regular supervision sessions in order to maintain their accreditation.
