Auditory Processing Disorder

This half-day workshop will develop delegates’ awareness of auditory processing disorder (APD).

Workshop objectives

This half-day workshop will develop delegates’ awareness of auditory processing disorder (APD) and the impact it can have on learning, as well as offering practical strategies to support children and young people in the classroom.

Workshop content

Children with APD may have noticeable problems from an early age, although sometimes these symptoms may not be obvious or may not be apparent until they start school. It is thought that 5% of the population may have APD to some degree.

This workshop will explore:

  • What is APD?
  • What is the impact of APD on learning?
  • Practical strategies for supporting children and young people.

All staff working with pupils in Primary and Secondary schools.

Presented by Sophie Cartwright, Meadowfield STLS.
