Attachment and the Vulnerable Child (one day training)
Training will look at children living in or have experienced neglectful or abusive early experiences and interactions, impacting on their school life.
This training will look at not only children in care but also those children who are living in or have experienced neglectful, abusive, difficult or unattuned early experiences and interactions. These children may experience a range of difficulties at school, including problems coping with change and transition, relationship difficulties with adults and other children, and difficulties managing their emotions and behaviours. All of this can have an impact on their learning and emotional wellbeing.
This training we will aim to:
- Develop an understating of the main aspects of attachment difficulties including the neuro-science of attachment theory;
- Consider how Attachment Theory can be applied to understanding perplexing behaviours at school, providing a different way of interpreting pupil’s behaviour;
- Increase knowledge about the different types on insecure attachment and explore strategies to support pupils who have experienced loss and trauma;
- Empower school staff to feel able to support these pupils through the power of relationships.
Additional Subject Areas - Social, Emotional and Mental Health; Resilience; Managing Emotions; Behaviour and Attendance.
