Take part in the English Heritage Education Art Competition for KS4 and 5 students at Walmer Castle and Gardens

Complement your teaching in the classroom and be in with a chance of winning art supplies.

“It’s been a brilliant experience and we look forward to taking part again”
Victoria Uttley, Head of Art, Design and Photography The Canterbury Academy

Fire your students’ creativity as part of our competition to create a piece of art inspired by Walmer Castle and its gardens.

KS4 and 5 students can create artworks in any media they choose, so we hope they’ll enjoy the opportunity to experiment.

You and your students are welcome to visit Walmer Castle and Gardens for free as many times as you need. We suggest visiting in September and October to gather inspiration. Well-known local artist Richard Friend will be judging the entries.

Competition prizes are:

  • £100 of art supplies for the winning pupil
  • £100 of art supplies for the winning pupil’s school
  • £50 of art supplies for two runners up

The closing date for entries is Friday 20 April 2018. We’ll display a selection of artwork at Walmer Castle and Gardens’ ‘Blooming Gardens’ event in June 2018.

Taking part is easy and we’ll provide you with help and support.

Register your interest by Friday 15 September 2017
