Step into the NHS Competition 2017/18

Following the success of last year’s competition, the Step into the NHS Competition will be running again for year 8 and 9 students from September 2017.

The competition requires students to choose an NHS career that interests them and create a job description and an advert to tell their friends and other young people about it. Students can work on their own or in teams of up to four.

The competition can be used to support learning within the curriculum for example:

ScienceLooking at how science is used in the workplace, the skills required and how classroom learning relates the world of work
ITUsing IT and media packages to present ideas
EnglishDemonstrating different formats for writing and the use of persuasive text
Careers/PSHETo help young people consider the widest possible range of careers and recognise the experience and qualifications that employers want

Alternatively the competition can be used as an activity within a school club or set as a piece of homework.

In addition to the national and regional winners, we will be selecting a county winner for Kent and Medway. The Simulation Ambulance will visit the County winning school and will run a variety of sessions with students during the day such as activities to demonstrate how the heart works and how to administer CPR. Activities can be tailored to the schools requirements.
