Step up for absolutely fabulous green travel challenge

Pupils dedicated to eco-friendly travel will take a walk on the wild side this summer to win absolutely fabulous prizes.

Schools signed up to the KM Walk to School campaign including Walk on Wednesday (Wow) and Active Bug are eligible to take part in a competition to win family tickets to an RSPB nature reserve.

The contest, organised by the KM Charity Team, will reward the class that is top or most improved with their figures for walking or cycling to school on the challenge date of June 21.

Participants will also be competing for the chance to win a storytelling session given by actor Ben Roddy, honorary patron of the KM Charity Team and resident pantomime dame at the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury. His film credits include an appearance in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.

Simon Dolby from the KM Charity Team, which also runs the Buster’s Book Club reading scheme, said: “Pupils get a real thrill out of our walk to school challenges which help to keep them enthused about green travel. We’re expecting to see some impressive figures as classes vie for these top notch prizes.”

This term schools can sign up for next academic year’s walk to school campaign. Class packs are available from the KM Charity Team at a reduced rate if they order before
July 1.
