National Walking Month

May is National Walking Month.

At Staff Care Services we are aware that May is National Walking Month.

Walking is an underrated exercise compared to running, cycling and gym work.

Walking is fun, flexible and it is free.

Walking is a lower impact exercise and can be done for longer periods of time with less shock to the body.

The physical health benefits of walking are multiple: improves fitness and cardiac health, alleviates depression and fatigue, improves mood, creates less stress on joints and reduces pain, can prevent weight gain, reduces risk for cancer and chronic disease, improves endurance, circulation, and posture, etc.

The mental health benefits of walking include increased creativity, mood booster, reduce ruminating on negative thoughts, improved memory, improved self-confidence, and prevention of the deterioration of brain tissue.

While walking, you can raise money for the British Heart Foundation. Further details can be found here
