Enter now for the Perfect Packed Lunch Awards

The deadline for children’s arty competition the Perfect Packed Lunch Awards has been extended to noon on Wednesday, May 3.

Each participating pupil must create a lunchbox meal for a pirate, princess or famous artist - or one of many other categories. The child then draws a picture of the packed lunch and writes a wow statement to excite a reader to want to eat it, the pretend method to cook or make the dish, as well as a list of imaginary ingredients.

Every entry will be showcased on the Perfect Packed Lunch Awards website as a recipe card featuring the child’s artwork and writing. Contest judges will pick category winners to invite to an awards ceremony at the prestigious Beaney House of Art and Knowledge in Canterbury, where their work will go on display.

Primary schools are being offered the chance to win a Golden Ticket - which ensures that one of their pupils makes it to the final - by simply:

• Using the templates for the artwork and written work available here
• Getting the whole school to take this on as a class activity
• Picking the two best entries from every form
• Posting the best entries to: KM Charity Team, 5-8 Estuary View Business Park, Boorman Way, Whitstable, CT5 3SE by the May 3 deadline.

To be eligible for a Golden Ticket there must be at least one entry for each of the following categories: Superhero, Princess, Pirate Captain, Famous Artist, Knight, Book Character, Celebrity, Healthy, Cheesy, Fantasy, Fairytale, Historic (or as many categories as possible for small schools).

Simon Dolby of the KM Charity Team, which is running the competition, said: “Pupils can let their imaginations go wild for the Perfect Packed Lunch Awards. It’s a great combination of art and creative writing with a wonderful prize to be won. Make sure your class doesn’t miss out on the fun.”
