EFA’s Condition Data Collection Programme
15 March 2017
The Education Funding Agency (EFA) is to start a national data collection programme which will collect information on the physical condition of schools in England.
The EFA will use the data to target future capital investment and to support conversations with HM Treasury.
The EFA has contracted four Surveying Organisations to collect the data about schools, plus another organisation to provide quality assurance.
The programme will be delivered in phases and will run from 2017 to 2019. The Surveying Organisations will contact schools direct to arrange their visits. Schools will be notified at least a month before the date of the intended site visit. Schools will be asked to complete a short online condition data collection questionnaire at least two weeks before the visit. This will seek contextual information about the site and buildings, and confirm certain key management and compliance documents (e.g. asbestos register) are in place. The visit is likely to be by two surveyors.
