Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Hygiene (Catering)

This qualification covers the basic principles of food hygiene for caterers and other food handlers.

It is firmly based on the Level 2 National Occupational Standards developed by People 1st, the Sector Skills Council for the hospitality industry. Topics covered are regarded by the Food Standards Agency as being important to understanding and maintaining good practice in the handling and preparation of safe food.

Delegates are required to bring photographic ID in order to sit the examinations. We accept passport, driving licence and workplace photo ID.

Training objectives

To have a knowledge and understanding of:

  • the importance of food hygiene
  • associated food hazards
  • good hygiene practice
  • controls based upon an awareness of food safety management systems.

Target audience

Employees who handle food will gain a firm grasp of the importance of food safety and knowledge of the systems, techniques and procedures involved.
